William Mora Galleries is delighted to participate in the 2026 edition of the Melbourne Art Fair and to present Henry Lewis for the first time with a new body of work, Breathing II.
This new photographic series offers enthralling poetic rhythms of colour and geometric form, revealing the captured act of breathing across different contexts. These three dimensional works evoke in an intimate register, a form of self-portraiture.
“Lewis’ works are both pictorial and abstract and represent the relationship between fluid air and our living body and, as such, form a model of the fragility of individual life itself. Organised at the fundamental level of the bodily act of breathing, his works remind us of the delicate balance between life and the world in which it exists.”
— Dr Tom Loveday, December 2025
After studying art at the San Francisco Art Institute in the late 1970s, Lewis relocated to France, where he lived and worked for four decades. An established artist, he exhibited widely in galleries and museums across Europe. In 2019, he re-established his practice near Bowral, New South Wales.
Proudly represented by William Mora Galleries, Lewis is currently included in the exhibition Confluence at the Museum of Art and Culture Yapang, Lakeside Macquarie, on view until 19 April 2026.
Henry Lewis will be present during the Melbourne Art Fair.
