Juris

These photographs are from a series called Juris. The images invite viewers to reflect on a distant, narrow band of clarity and masses of blurriness [flou]. This flou is similar to poor radio reception or the non-retinal parts of peripheral vision. We tussle to find a sense, without the advantage of the context of an expanded field. The images were found and captured in an important 17th C. Roman law textbook. This ancient language obliges the viewer to grapple with visual stability and survival of language, precariously salvaging a word or two, from that sea of words – a sort of lifebuoy.

All prints are 60cm x 60cm ink jet on archival rag paper.
